So yesterday was the first time I could get up-close and personal with the new Ridgeline. The guys in the back did leather in this one.
It’s an RTS FWD and I’ve noticed a few things:
1. The styling is extremely conservative, even for Honda:
2. The interior is nice - which it should be. It’s a Pilot with a pickup bed.
Black with light gray stitch. Perfectly ordinary
3. The transmission seems to want to shift harder than the same ‘box in a Pilot or Odyssey. Maybe it’s calibrated to be more like a truck?

This would be all the truck I ever need. Looking to pick on up after Forest.

How’s that back seat space look?

I can see it’s all the truck a normal person will ever need.

Better to have conservative styling than what Toyotas doing.

Leaving aside any other feelings on the Ridgeline, I HATE THAT SNOUT. LOATH IT. IT’S SHIT ON THE PILOT AND IT’S SHIT HERE.
You may now resume your day.

Except it’s not. At 5,000 max towing capacity, any reasonably-sized camper is out. You can forget about a toy-hauler. The payload, nearing 1,600 lbs, is good but still doesn’t compare to a 20 year old Dakota.

I really like it. But I think there is too much plastic on it this year.

True, but most truck owners NEVER tow anything. I’ve owned my truck for almost 15 years. I have never towed anything. I have, however, used it to move 5 times, hauled countless loads of firewood, many camping trips, Home Depot/Lowes runs, etc.

I once put 3,600 lbs worth of pavestone in the back of the Dakota, happily ignorant of the weight until we got home and did the math
I imagine that kind of weight in a Ridgeline would total the car

But most truck drivers don’t tow, or ever plan to tow, anything .

Indeed. 5,000 max capacity also leaves out anything but the smaller end of the recreational boat market. Any thing larger than a 20ft. bowrider would be out of the question.

I’ve seen a couple new ones.
One of which already contained a lemon scented tree air freshener.
